The bean facility was build in
1991 in Americus, Georgia, by a group of open minded farmers trying
to diversify their farming operations with a crop they believed the
consumer would always demand. Their main objective was striving to
package a quality product for the consumer.
In 1998 the bean facility was bought by Fresh Plants, Inc.,
which included most of the original shareholders. Since 1991 the
business has been managed by Charles E. Hart who has been in
produce management since 1982. In 2007 an additional packing
facility was purchased in Crossville, TN. The green, wax and ky
beans are grown in the Americus area each spring and fall by the
owners and contract growers in the surrounding area and each
summer by contract growers in Crossville and the surrounding
area. Cut green beans are also sold at the GA facility to the
public packaged in 15-lb. bags, which can be used for canning,
freezing or just everyday good eating.
Fresh Plants' beans are
packed and shipped all over the USA and Canada with over two
million bushels already packed.
